The Croatian Agency for the Environment and Nature collects data and creates indicators not only for monitoring the state of the environment (air, water, sea, waste, biodiversity, climate change etc.), but also for so-called integrated themes, such as sustainable production and consumption, resource efficiency and circular economy. By publishing data and assessment for decision-makers, scientific, professional and wider public, will be monitored successful shifts towards a circular economy and effects of implementing environmental protection measures.

Celebrating the World Environment Day we have been, by tradition, presenting the state of the environment for eleven consecutive years. Your interest in this brochure, small in terms of format but highly informative in terms of its contents, has prompted us to work continuously on its improvement. From the first edition until this day 10 new thematic areas have been introduced so this year’s publication provides data for 19 thematic areas.

New EEA report "EU bioenergy potential from a resource efficiency perspective"

Using biomass for energy is an important part of the renewable energy mix. However, bioenergy production should follow EU resource efficiency principles, according to a new report from the European Environment Agency (EEA). This means extracting more energy from the same material input, and avoiding negative environmental effects potentially caused by bioenergy production.
